He has worked on several projects related to microfinance development and poverty alleviation. Recent assignments undertaken in Tanzania (2008), Georgia (2007), Ethiopia (2005), Kosovo (2005), Sierra Leone (2008). 2003- Current NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences Mr van der Sterren is coordinator of the Master Course in Tourism Destination Management that is based on a multi-stakeholder approach of tourism development. Also he is a senior lecturer on Business Development, International Finance and Economics. 1997-2003 Fund Manager, Cordaid/ Finance Business Unit Development and operational management of a wholesale credit fund offering financial services to microfinance sector and retail credit to small business in developing countries. Total assets worth € 45 mill. Maintain relations with over 100 clients in 25 countries in Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Africa. This included portfolio management / risk assessment, operational management of business unit (6 account managers), Supported processes of institutional transformation of MFIs and represented Cordaid in shareholding positions in specialized microfinance institutions and investment funds. 1996-1997 Financial officer, Novib Financial monitoring on projects funded in Latin Responsible for development of credit policy of Novib.
